Safeguarding Children with a Disability

This course will look at the additional vulnerabilities that make children with a disability more at risk of abuse and why this may not be recognised or responded to.  The threshold of significant harm and key issues in relation to strategy discussions and Section 47 enquiries will be considered.

The principles of the Mental Capacity Act and how this should be applied will also be explored.

By completing this course participants will be:

  • Able to recognise and respond appropriately to the potential abuse of children with a disability.
  • More confident in professional decision making.
  • Able to increase knowledge of Section 47 procedures.
  • Able to understand the application of the Mental Capacity Act.
